Leonia Library & Rotary Speaker Series: Robin Straus of the Adler Aphasia Center
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Aphasia is a communication disorder that often follows a stroke, brain tumor, or brain injury, and while many people know someone who has suffered one of these debilitating conditions, they know very little about aphasia itself. Aphasia affects more than 2½ million Americans, and robs them of the ability to communicate, cutting people off from their family, friends, health care providers, and everyday life. The Adler Aphasia Center, founded in 2003, provides a therapeutic environment of innovative programs that, in addition to speech therapy, give people with aphasia and their caregivers ways to reconnect with life.
