DINING FOR WOMEN
Dining for Women is a Dining circle, that was founded to help women and girls around the world receive an education, learn to become economically independent and develop self confidence. To date, the organization has raised over 10 million dollars from 400 chapters nationally through the generous contributions of its 9,000 members. Barb Collins and Marsha Wallace founded Dining for Women in 2003.
Our speaker Friday is Sylvie Meyers who was born and educated in France, and has had the great fortune of working for the French Ministry of Finance as a Commercial Attache, living in Egypt, India and China.
When she retired 3 years ago, a friend asked her to start a Dining for Women chapter in Tenafly. This chapter has now blossomed to a 35 women membership, and it’s always an exciting place to be.
In October 2015, Sylvie felt it was time to open a chapter in Wanaque, at the Wanaque Reserve, where she lives. That membership has already grown to more than 20 women.
Feeling that there was a need in Northern NJ, she approached the national organization and asked what else she could do to grow and support the program. In April, she became a volunteer mentor for Dining for Women, and revels in sharing her passion for the mission, opening new chapters.
Friday’s discussion will revolve around the overall mission of helping women in developing countries, and how a small donation can transform lives in big ways.
Dining for Women determines and oversees where the money goes to ensure positive outcomes, with numerous success stories. Please join us to learn more about this very worthy cause. http://diningforwomen.org/
