Norm Smith; Habitat for HumanityAugust 26, 2016 7:30 am - 8:30 am
Norm Smith retired in 2013 from the data-processing company ADP, after 35 years as a corporate training professional. ADP is a very active supporter of the Habitat for Humanity, and Norm always volunteered for ADP's Habitat builds, starting in the 1990s. Habitat work is satisfying and fun, and in 2006 Norm and his wife Peggy traveled to Lonavala, India to work with Jimmy Carter on a Habitat project there. So in 2013, when Norm retired on a Friday, it seemed natural to start work the following Tuesday with Habitat for Humanity Paterson. He worked every week in Paterson for the next three years, tapering off a bit in 2016 as he became more involved with another favorite effort, The Community of Friends in Action. Today Norm will talk about the Habitat-for-Humanity mission, and how it plays out in the tough neighborhoods of Paterson."
