Officer Ira Haas: Reflections on a 25 Year Career with the Fort Lee Police DepartmentApril 24, 2015 7:30 am - 8:30 am
Ira Haas is a recently retired 25 year veteran of the Fort Lee Police Department. During his long career with the FLPD Ira served in the following capacities; Police Officer, Emergency Response Team Member (Breacher and Sniper/observer). and was assigned to the Detective Bureau for most of his years in the following Bureaus, General Investigation Bureau (Frauds, Thefts, Assaults, Sexual Assaults, etc), Juvenile Bureau (Child Abuse, crimes involving subjects under 18 yrs of age, Narcotics Resistance Training) and the Narcotics Bureau, where he spent the bulk of his career (Money Laundering, Undercover Operations, Covert Surveillance, Large Scale Narcotics Cases etc.). His last assignment, 2011 through 2015 was the Training Bureau, where he completed background investigations for firearms permits, assigned and set up training for officers of the department, and conducted background investigations for the hiring of new Police Officers. Ira was also responsible for court security at the Fort Lee Municipal Court, which sees approximately 150 persons per court session 2 or 3 times a week. During his time as a member of the Fort Lee Police Ira was also assigned to the Bergen County Narcotics Task Force and The Bergen County Multi-Jurisdictional Money Laundering Unit. DEA Group 9 (Newark NJ) and has also worked on cases with the following agencies; FBI, FDA, U.S. Secret Service, NYPD, and the NJ State Police and numerous other Police agencies throughout the country. Ira has has received commendations from the DEA, FBI, Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, NY/NJ Crime Clinic, New Jersey Narcotic Officer's Association, as well as several commendations from the Fort Lee Police Dept.
