Venge Nyirongo: Development Advisor with the United Nations

Venge Nyirongo is Policy Specialist in the Economic Empowerment Section of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women). Stationed at the organization’s headquarters, Venge oversees the engagement of women in sustainable development activities to ensure countries develop economic policies that benefit women and girls, but mainly to raise the profile of women as formidable agents of change in sustainable development. His career has involved programme and policy international development with national governments, the United Nations, the World Bank, regional development Banks and Civil Society Organizations. He is a behavioral Economist whose research interests are in modeling how decision-making of economic agents are influenced by culture and traditions by using tools ranging from competition, market performance, game theory, and labor market economics.
