Peter Bailis is a recent retiree from a 30+ year career with the The Port Authority of New & New Jersey. Several years ago, Pete had a goal to hike all 225 miles of marked trails in New York’s Harriman State Park Reaching this goal took several years with over 70 hikes and more than 600 miles of trails.  Harriman State Park is known for it beautiful pristine forests, its rugged trails across diverse geological formations and breathtaking views of the Hudson valley.  Pete will share some of his experiences and some fascinating little known stories about the history of Harriman State Park.

Spring hiking season is here! This talk will be an excellent introduction and guide to learning more about this beautiful state park located right in our back yard.


Rotary Club of The Palisades, NJ meets most Friday mornings at 7:30 at the Gotham City Diner, 550 Bergen Boulevard, Ridgefield, and the first Tuesday of each month at Dante’s Place, 373 Broad Ave., Leonia.
